According to an article in the Orange County Register, wallpaper is making a comeback in the design world. Staff Writer Paul Hodgins writes, “As countless photos on Pinterest and Houzz lavishly demonstrate, wallpaper has been breaking free from its traditional locations: an accent wall in the downstairs powder room and the space behind the headboard in the master bedroom.”
Indeed, those photos on Pinterest and Houzz show wallpaper being used in a variety of new and exciting ways. Some of these include:
• In the library. A small library can be wrapped in wallpaper to make a big statement. Using wallpaper behind the bookshelves helps unify the look of the room.
• Hallways. A patterned and/or textured wallpaper can be used in place of traditional wainscoting.
• Entranceways. A bold wallpaper design can be used to transform a stairwell or other entranceway.
• Nurseries and children’s rooms. Animal designs can be cut from traditional wallpaper designs and then adhered to the wall.
In our Knox and Panoply design library, we have a vast array of wallpaper pattern books that can help inspire your next wallpaper project, whether you choose to use wallpaper in the traditional fashion or go with one of the new, more modern approaches.
