Twice each year, home furnishings professionals from around the world, including some of us from Knox and Panoply, gather in High Point, North Carolina to be the first to see the latest offerings in the world of home furnishings. The next High Point Market is coming up April 16-20, and Sunbrella fabric vignettes are going to be showcased at The MT Company. One of the designers for Sunbrella fabrics, Joe Ruggiero, is a home decor authority who translates the trends he sees on the fashion runways to his designs for interiors. During the International Furniture Market in High Point, vignettes in Ruggiero’s showroom at The MT Company will showcase his design predictions for the world of interiors, dubbed “The Eye of the Designer.” “The vignettes at High Point will showcase how to create beautiful, high-performance, livable spaces,” said Ruggiero, who sees color as a prominent driver of home decor trends for the next six months. He predicts that we will see an influx of blue and white, taupe and cameo and menswear-inspired designs.
Blue and white – a classic combination – is fashion-inspired, and indigo has made its way onto the runways again this spring. Ruggiero’s bedroom vignette features various Sunbrella fabrics in this deep, rich shade of blue including Slash Indigo, a new take on traditional plaid with a pattern that appears to be slashed into the fabric; Tailored Indigo, a fabric inspired by menswear tweed using chenille fiber for a luxurious feel; Symbol Denim, a fabric based on Japanese characters from ancient art; Meridian Indigo, a subtly textured solid with a soft hand; and Espadrille II Mariner, a classic ticking stripe.
Introduced in 1961, Sunbrella revolutionized the way the world thinks about how beautiful fabrics look, feel and perform. The Sunbrella brand is the leading premium fabric choice for awning, marine and furniture manufacturers, offering legendary durability, fade resistance and ease of cleaning. Sunbrella fabrics are manufactured and marketed by Glen Raven, a 134-year-old family-owned company based in North Carolina with operations worldwide.
