With Christmas quickly approaching, many are readying their homes for the holidays - decorating and preparing for family and friend’s visits, a holiday gathering or maybe just to get in the Christmas spirit. When someone is preparing to host a Christmas gathering or party, we see that a lot of focus in put on preparing the dining room. We have compiled a few of our favorite tips on “jazzing” up a dining room area for your holiday guests. We love the idea of dressing up your dining room chairs. One of the most overlooked areas of the dining room – the chairs themselves have great potential. For a Christmas gathering, it could be as simple as tying a wide ribbon and bow around the back of the chair for a spectacular new look for your chairs. Of course, there are about a million ideas and crafts1 you can do to dress up your chairs. A great idea is to use seasonal elements such as bells, pinecones, evergreen, ornaments, or whatever items say ‘winter’ or ‘Christmas’ to you.
Another wonderful idea is to create place cards for your guests. There are so many different ways to do this – so it is a great way to let your personality shine through. According to how formal the event will be, you can even let your children assist you in making these. Your guests will appreciate and awe over the extra effort. Martha Stewart offers a how-to guide on making the cutest Christmas tree place cards. They look spectacular and they are so easy to make!
Of course we cannot forget the centerpiece. Being the focal point of the room, the centerpiece should be creative and eye-catching. That does not mean it needs to be complicated. A simple idea such as stacked, wrapped boxes – tied together by a pretty ribbon and bow, or a basket filled with pears, will wow your guests. One of our favorite ideas is a large glass vase filled with a variety of Christmas ornaments. It is so simple and easy to put together and you probably have everything you need in your home already. Whatever you decide, just be sure that it flows with the rest of the room’s theme.
