The Mariette Himes Gomez Sloan Street Collection from Hickory Chair is a fresh yet fashionable new collection rooted in the antiques Gomez has integrated into her personal life. An internationally acclaimed designer, Gomez is a study of elegant balance and contrasts. Her astute traditional perspective was cultivated as a student at the Rhode Island School of Design, the New York School of Interior Design and as an associate of design luminaries like Edward Durell Stone, Albert Hadley and Sister Parish. Her new 88-piece collection for Hickory Chair has the characteristically clean, more updated style she's been articulating since founding Gomez & Associates in 1975. Crafted of the finest materials, and reflecting exquisite details and finishes, each piece of this collection is a refreshing blend of classic style and contemporary significance.
The new collection for Hickory Chair includes this Miami Center Table, the marriage of a Saarinen-inspired white carrera marble top, with a tapered round edge along the circumference of the marble, atop a stunning carved base. The marble is handpicked with a focus on finding the purest slabs of white with the finest vein details. The base is developed from an antique mirror with a quilted border. Gomez loved the dimensioning this technique brought to the mirror and applied it to the round, tapering base, giving the illusion of textural movement. The table features a Dove White finish.
